Do you want to learn business English online? Looking for a promotion at work or a new role using English on a regular basis? Or are you trying to improve your business English and understand all the business idioms and phrases that get used in office meetings that go over your head? Then this Business English online course is the one for you!
This English for Business course is 16 hrs long, which is based on 1hr lessons, however 30min, 45min, and 90min lessons can all be discussed. The course contains lessons on meetings – how to run and manage meetings; negotiations – the art of winning and participating in key negotiations within the world of business; socialising within an office or workplace capacity and covering some of the key business idioms used in everyday language. We also look at how businesses and companies’ ways of working differ around the world to help you improve your business English.
The Business English course is 16 hours long, and this is based on 1hr lessons, however 30min, 45min or 90min lesson options can all be discussed. Lessons can be booked around your availability and there is plenty of flexibility if you have a busy lifestyle! Lessons are available to be booked 7 days a week, all I ask is for 48hrs notice, where possible, of any changes to pre-booked lessons.
This English for Business course follows 3 main topics with each unit split into 5 units followed by a lesson dedicated to business idioms. Lessons include lots of role plays and case studies, using real life scenarios to aid the learning of new techniques. In each lesson there are lots of opportunities to put the newly learned vocabulary and phrases into practice too.
The topics covered in this course include:
- Meetings – running and arranging meetings, using small talk in meetings, getting down to business, starting meetings.
- Getting Involved – increasing meeting participation and cooperation, brainstorming, meeting strategies.
- Managing meetings – setting up meetings via email, feedback when managing meetings, chairing a meeting, minute/ note taking during meetings.
- Socialising – breaking the ice, starting conversations with new people, ice breaker conversation ideas.
- Keeping the conversation going – techniques to keep conversations going, different types of questions, question bank, making questions and conversation patterns.
- Social Networking – socialising and social networking, face to face networking, writing for social networking – ie blogs, relationships, using social media.
- Active Listening – active listening skills, effective body language, dealing with difficult experiences.
- Brainstorming and evaluating – managing a successful brainstorming meeting, pros and cons of brainstorming sessions, making suggestions, evaluating ideas.
- Action points – key questions for actions, volunteering and delegating, setting deadlines, closing a meeting.
- Negotiations – building relationships, providing feedback.
- Positions and interests – different stages of negotiations, stating your negotiation position, variables, making demands.
- Questioning and clarifying – reasons for questioning, different types of negotiation questions, summarising and responding.
- Bargaining – What does it involve? Different types of bargaining and the different stages, hedging during bargaining.
- Clinching the deal – dealing with aggressive negotiations, reaching an agreement, closing a negotiation, different types of negotiators.
- From contact to Partner – friendships and partnerships relations, potential problems with change in relationships.
